McKinley Middle School assumes no responsibility for theft, damage, or replacement of cell phones/electronic devices.

Electronics/Cell Phones

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices

Parents who provide their child(ren) with cellphones or 

electronic devices should be aware of the following:  

Cell phones or any other electronic devices may not be

used during instructional time including lunch and

passing periods. 

ALL CELL  PHONES/ELECTRONICS ARE TO BE TURNED OFF (NOT ON VIBRATE) DURING THE SCHOOL DAY AND KEPT IN A LOCKER OR BACKPACK, NOT ON THE STUDENT’S PERSON.  

 

For the purposes of this procedural directive,“personal

electronic device” means any device that a student is in 

possession of which electronically communicates, sends, receives, stores, reproduces or displays voice and/or 

text communication, media or data. These include, but are not limited to:

  • cellular phones
  • multi media devices
  • pagers
  • smart phones
  • MP3 players
  • music and media players
  • gaming devices
  • tablets
  • laptop computers
  • personal digital assistants.

Violation of Policy

If a student violates the use of cell phones or 

electronic devices the device is confiscated

and secured in the office until picked up by a

parent or guardian. All confiscated items will

be available for pickup between 7:30- 3:30pm,

from the Attendance Office.  

 

Repeated violations may result in the confiscation of the device until the end of the semester and/or suspension.

Phone for Student Use

Please do not attempt to text message your student during the school day.  The cell phone discipline policy will be  implemented.  Students  will  be  allowed  to  use  the  Front  office  phone  during  non-instructional  time  for emergencies  only.   

Classroom  phones  are  to  be  used  at  the  teacher’s  discretion  for  emergencies  only.  The student should have a signed pass in their agenda book.  A student will not be refused use of the office phone if the student needs to contact their parent or guardian.
