Discipline Policy

Discipline Policy

This handbook supplements the APS Student Behavior Handbook which is available to all families and is also on line at http://ww2.aps.edu/ Acceptable standards of behavior are expected at all times. Discipline will be administered fairly and firmly when any individual’s action interferes with the learning process. Students are reminded that any teacher or staff member in the school is expected to correct unruly individuals at any place and at any time while at school and at school sponsored events. McKinley Middle School’s guideline for behavior of students is to maintain a safe educational environment for all. If a student is endangered by peers or by his/her own actions, interventions and consequences will be determined.

Our school’s community is committed to the development of a discipline policy which creates a positive, safe, orderly and effective learning environment free from distractions. The key factors of our philosophy of effective discipline are fairness, firmness and consistency. The responsibility for developing and supporting this policy falls equally on each member of our community. Students are responsible for their own actions and behaviors. Expected behavior also identified in the APS STUDENT BEHAVIOR HANDBOOK and is presented by staff to students.
